As we age, we develop fine lines and wrinkles particularly around the eyes, across the forehead and around the mouth. The collagen and elastin, which gives the skin its ‘firmness’, decreases along with a reduction in Hyaluronic acid causing it to dehydrate. There are many treatments available to correct fine lines, wrinkles and folds and the Doctor will advise you on the best possible procedure. Treatments available include;

Upper Face

Banish lines around the eyes and forehead using muscle relaxing injectables. Botulinum toxin type A can be used to ‘freeze’ muscles for a period of 3-4 months stopping the formation of lines. The procedure can also be used to ‘lift’ the eyebrows giving a fresher look. Botulinum toxin type A can also be used in combination therapy to prolong the effect of dermal fillers.

Lips and Chins

Botulinum toxin type A can be used around the mouth to prevent ‘smokers’ lines appearing as well as being used in combination with dermal fillers in this area. Constant pulling down of the mouth corners can create ‘marionette’ lines or ‘sad mouth’ and by placing Botulinum toxin type A in this area it can delay the formation of lines running from the mouth corners.

Neck bands

Also known as platysma bands that run down the neck and under the chin and usually seen when we stretch the neck. Botulinum toxin type A is used to relax these bands creating a smooth beautiful neck.

Excessive Sweating

Medically referred to as Hyperhydrosis, this condition can be extremely debilitating as well as embarrassing. It is usually seen in the under arms, however it can occur in other areas of the body such as the groin and the feet. Botulinum toxin type A can be used to control the problem and results can last from six to ten months.

Dermal Fillers

Lines that are visible when the face is at rest need to be treated with dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are products that smooth out lines and folds and can also be used to create or restore volume. There are several types of dermal fillers and Dr Lucy will provide you with patient information on the ones that would suit you best. The following dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic acid and are graded according to the depth of the line. These fillers will last approximately 6 months.

  • Restylane
  • Juvederm
  • Beletero
  • Derma Fil
  • Profhilo

Longer Lasting Fillers

Radiesse – Radiesse is an injectable implant that can be used in lines and folds and also for facial contouring. The product is soft and natural looking and can last up to 2 years.

Ellansé – Ellansé is a unique injectable filler in that in comes in a range of four durations. Ellansé S has a one-year duration, M has two years, L has three years and E has four years. The product works with your own skin to restore facial volume and stimulate collagen. Ellansé is designed for the face and the hands.

Facial Contouring

Ageing is a complex process and involves loss of skin elasticity, muscle and bone as well as fat. Fat can also re-deposited for example, from the cheek area lower down around the jowls. Fat gives us a youthful appearance and we can liken our face to a balloon. When the balloon is fully inflated it is tight and firm. When it begins to deflate it loses its firmness and becomes saggy. This can be seen in the ageing face and by using specific products and techniques we can restore the volume giving you back more that youthful features. We all age differently and we often ask that when you are considering facial contouring that you bring pictures in of yourself from your 20’s and 30’s as this helps us to assess your specific ageing profile.

Fillers can also be used to ‘create’ defined facial features for example, sculpted cheekbones or more volume in the lips as well as define the jaw line, improve the shape of nose, and restore volume loss in the temples and forehead.

Saline Test

We understand that you may be a little apprehensive about contouring procedures. A saline test allows you to see the effects of facial contouring temporarily. It is ideal for those clients that are a little unsure and would like to see the effects before committing themselves.

Sculptra™ – Unlike dermal fillers which we consider to be ‘direct’ fillers i.e. filling a line directly, Sculptra™ is used to create volume all over the face i.e. below the cheek bones where volume can be lost with ageing creating lines, folds and jowls, in the temples and in the cheeks. Sculptra™ is given as a course of treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart. Over this period, Sculptra™ causes natural collagen growth, plumping out the hollows and smoothing out lines and wrinkles, creating a ‘lift’ and the effects can last up to 2 years.

Doctor Lucy will be able to advise you on the amount of sessions required.

Tear Troughs

Many people complain about hollowing under the eyes causing dark shadows to appear giving a tired ‘drawn’ appearance. This ‘hollow’ or ‘trough’ can be filled using a fine grade dermal filler. This technique can instantly rejuvenate the eye area and we often combine it with wrinkle injections (the eye opener) to give a ‘surgical’ eye lift. Following your first treatment you will need to return 4-6 weeks later for a review and it may be necessary to complete a second procedure to ensure full correction.

The Eye Opener

This procedure combines several techniques creating a non-surgical eyebrow lift and correcting the tear trough area that rejuvenates the eyes without the need for surgery and scarring.

Brow Plumping

Volume can be lost along the brow bone making the eyes look ‘droopy’ and heavy. Filler placed along the brow bone can restore the shape and lift the brow.

Lip Enhancement

There are many reasons why lips can benefit from enhancement. A natural process of ageing results in the lips becoming thinner. This volume can be replaced giving a very natural rejuvenated look. Some lips are asymmetrical, for example the top lip may be thinner than the bottom and requires balancing. Lip enhancements may also benefit those clients that experience ‘smokers’ lines around the mouth and in this case just the border of the lip can be rejuvenated without affecting the volume.

Lovely Lips

By using a combination of techniques the whole lip and mouth area can be rejuvenated restoring a youthful appearance. Lips lose their plumpness as we age and can also develop top lip lines which can look very ageing. By redefining the outline and creating a slightly fuller lip as well as lifting the corners of the mouth this ageing effect can be significantly reduced

Cinderella Lips

For those clients that really don’t want to commit to lip enhancement can benefit from this procedure. The lips are temporarily filled for a special event and can last from 2 -3 weeks.

Hand Plumping

Hands can be a real giveaway to our age. We offer rejuvenation procedures that will plump up the backs of the hands hiding protruding veins and replacing volume loss restoring plumpness. Doctor Lucy will advise you on which product is more suitable for you to achieve the very best results.

PDO Threads

This procedure has gained in popularity and can be completed in a number of ways to ‘lift’ the skin and improve skin texture. The dissolvable threads come in various lengths and are inserted under the skin to produce a lifting effect and generate new collagen formation. This procedure is highly effective on its own or when combined with fillers.

Legs and Body

This is a common problem and unsightly thread veins can appear on the body and in particular the legs. We use a method known as Sclerotherapy which involves tiny injections into the vessels with a sclerosing agent. A course of treatment is often required and treatments are spaced 6-8 weeks apart. You will be given special support garments that will need to be worn for up to 14 days after the procedure. We often advise anyone considering this treatment to start in the winter months when the legs will be covered.

Facial Mesotherapy

This is a well known French technique involving a series of tiny injections of powerful anti ageing ingredients directly into the skin. The skin problems and desired effects will determine the products used and your Doctor will be able to advise you on the most suitable products to suit your individual needs. Courses of treatment are normally required however single treatments can be given to refresh tired skin.

Skin Tags, Warts, Lumps & Bumps

Removal of skin tags, warts, lumps and bumps – Using electrocautery, skin tags and warts and other lumps and bumps can be easily removed as well solar lentigines and skin imperfections. When removing moles we will also carry out a biopsy to ensure that there are no underlying problems.
